Calendar and Packing List

If you've been wondering what we will be doing down in Mayan country for nine whole days, wonder no more! The Guatemala Calendar is here, ta-dah:

Please note the change in packing day. It will actually take place on Thursday the 7th. Also, if you could peruse the schedule on Saturday the 16 and rest your eyes on 9 p.m. That's right, we are going to be hosting the best second annual Non-Talent Show Antigua has ever seen. Start preparing.

Also, here's the most current packing list for your convenience. Don't forget the undies!

Let me know if you have any questions. I love talking about what is important to bring and even more about what we will be doing. Don't be alarmed by the early wake up times. It's so much easier to get out of bed in the morning when you know you will be having the time of your life that day. Lucky for us that's what is on the agenda all nine days we are in Guatemala.

Bye...oh and here's a song for you. I'm not one to bring my personal life into a public setting like this—who am I kidding, of course I am. I chose this song because of a recent event in my life that has caused me to be sad. Sometimes the perfect song is all it takes to pick me up. Enjoy:

This one is from my boys, Secondhand Serenade. I don't know how they did it, but they have managed to bottle up all the emotions of a break up and have concentrated them into 204 seconds of delicious ear food.

A Photo and An Inspiring Lesson From Willy: the Whale

I just found this photo that Lisa took at one of our last meetings. Go ahead and copy and paste it if you would like.

Oh, and I was listening to this song on the way to work today and it basically changed my life. As you listen to it, I would ask you just one question: Will YOU be there?

Don't make fun of me. This song is amazing and let's not forget how inspired all of us were when Willy flew for the first time. Lesson learned: If you have faith and work as a team, you too can learn to fly over impassible obstacles.

P.S. Only 47 more days!

Today: The Best Meeting Ever

Today we are having a meeting at 5:15 p.m. at the Northwest Plaza. Here is a copy of Tiffany's email that went out yesterday with all of the information you will need:

Dear Guatemala Team:

We want to remind everybody about our Team meeting tomorrow at 5:15pm in NW Plaza Classroom #2 – parents are welcome and encouraged to attend if possible.

We must have a copy of your passport tomorrow - we are making final reservations on Friday, May 20 and the travel company requires a copy of the passport before tickets can be finalized.

Please bring your Safe Passage application, travel insurance information, etc.

We will be talking about the RC Willey Fundraisers on Memorial Weekend and the Yard Sale for June 4 – lots of information to go over.

Remember to bring your assignments from the last meeting.

Also, we will be handing out preliminary packings lists and schedules for the week we are down there. This should give you a better idea of what we will be doing and what you will need to bring.

Hope to see you all there. Promise not to make fun of me when I come in with chipmunk face after I get five cavities replaced at the dentist just minutes before. Seriously, promise me right now in the comments section.

Love, Dane

Oh, P.S. Check out the weather widget I have included on the bottom of the blog. There is also a handy currency converter (up to date!) right next to it. If you are wondering what the exchange rate is on a minute to minute basis, give it a shot!
